WhatsApp says the number is not allowed
Updated 22 October 2026, 2 minute readSometimes WhatsApp shows a message like "This number is not allowed to register with WhatsApp". It is not your fault, and it does not cost you anything extra to fix.
Why it happens
Numbers are shared by many apps before they reach you. Now and then WhatsApp has already seen a number and will not accept it. This is outside our control, so we make the fix free.
Get a new number
On your order page, tap Number not working before a code arrives. You get a fresh number straight away and your hold moves to the new order, so you only ever pay once.
What you pay
Nothing extra. The amount you are holding simply follows you to the new number. If no number works and you stop, the full amount returns to your wallet.
A rejected number never costs you money. You are charged only when a code actually arrives.
